Chthonic Sisterhood

from $30.00

“Chthonic Sisterhood” features heavy symbolism from three of the Chthonic (meaning “of the underworld) gods of Greek mythology: Each deity, Hades, Persephone, and Hecate, is represented by one of their sacred flowers. Hades is represented by the asphodel flower, Persephone by the pomegranate blossom, and Hecate by belladonna. The sacred flowers are held by a skull, symbolizing each god’s association with the Underworld and death. Hecate, as the “triple goddess” embodying the past, present, and future, is further represented through her sacred symbols of the serpent and the moon. The serpent in association with Hecate is often depicted as an ouroboros and symbolizes her connection to the cycle of life: birth, death, and renewal. The moon often represents her association with night, mystery, and as another symbol of her connection to the cycle of life via the lunar phases.
